Plan water management before the finish
Tile and grout are not a waterproofing system on their own. The estimate conversation should cover the shower base, drain, wall substrate, seams and penetrations, together with the waterproofing assembly specified for the space. Ask which checks and preparation are included before the tile is installed.
Resolve the layout as a complete space
Tile size, niche height, bench position and the shower entrance affect the cuts and transitions. Bring fixture locations and inspiration so we can discuss how the pattern meets corners, shelves and the floor. A curbless entry or a change to the drain can require coordination beyond the tile finish.
Understand the quote and warranty
Demolition, hidden substrate conditions, tile format and detailed features can change the scope and schedule. Ask for the preparation, materials, installation work and exclusions to be identified in your estimate. M.S Tile advertises a five-year installation warranty and ten years on shower pan installation; discuss the applicable written terms for your project.
