Porcelain, Ceramic or Natural Stone? Choosing Tile for a Cape Cod Home
Material choice is about more than appearance. The room, moisture exposure, maintenance and installation details should all inform the decision.

Porcelain
Dense and versatile, porcelain is a common choice for floors, shower walls and high-use spaces. It is available in formats that convincingly reference stone, concrete and handmade surfaces.
Ceramic
Ceramic tile offers a broad range of color and texture, especially for walls and backsplashes. The specific product should always be matched to its intended application.
Natural stone
Stone brings genuine variation and depth. It may require sealing and more attentive care, which should be understood before installation.
Compare the exact product, not just the category
Check the manufacturer's intended application, dimensions, surface finish and care instructions. A wall tile is not automatically suitable for a floor, and an indoor product is not automatically suitable outside. Bring product links and samples to the estimate conversation.
Include installation details in the choice
Large pieces, mosaics and natural variation affect cuts, layout and preparation. Review thresholds, edges and grout alongside the material. The most useful selection is one that fits the room, the installation conditions and your maintenance expectations.
